Buried in the weeping prophet Jeremiah’s writings is joy like a nugget. While Jeremiah asks if there is any sorrow like His sorrow. Chris speaks of how the deep heartily cry of God in these texts is relieved by bright promises like: "Your children shall come back from the distant land of the enemy". What a promise for the believing parents of wayward children. Hebrews 5:7 said Jesus knew how to weep “with vehement cries of tears asking to be save out from death”. The old hymn said “I cannot tell how silently He suffered, As with His peace He graced this place of tears, Or how His heart upon the Cross was broken, The crown of pain to three and thirty years. But this I know, He heals the broken-hearted, And stays our sin, and calms our lurking fear, And lifts the burden from the heavy laden, For yet the Saviour, Saviour of the world, is here".
